William Beaumont Hospital Emergency Center and Critical Care Tower

Troy, Michigan – 2300 Tons

Barton Malow/Skanska, construction Manager for the William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan, sought out Douglas Steel to assist in the design with Harley Ellis Devereaux and to secure the earliest rolling schedules for the 2,300 ton of structural steel needed to frame the 71,000 square foot 2-story expansion of the Emergency Center and the 162,000 square foot 8-story Critical Care Tower. These new structures are embedded in the center of a fully operational medical complex with very limited access. The steel erection became a delicate surgical insertion of a massive structure in and around a very sensitive operation.
