Douglas Steel worked closely with The Christman Company and Ledy Design Group to accomplish the unique design features of the fully exposed, tough looking Capitol Hummer Showroom. The exterior girders were fabricated in such a way to allow insulation to be inserted during the fabrication process and then attached to the rolled girders that were required to support the roof. The large girders were fabricated and delivered in one piece to create the look required for one of the first prototype Hummer showrooms. The 7,000 sq. ft. structure incorporated 65 tons of structural steel.

The Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills was designed by Neumann/Smith & Associates. Under contract with Granger Construction, much of the 350 tons of steel in this 50,000-square foot building is architecturally exposed to view in order to enhance the ambience and architectural features. This is no conventional box building. There are very few 90 degree corners and the unique geometry offered many challenges....
