Henry Ford Hospital is developing a new medical complex in West Bloomfield Hills. The project designed by Albert Kahn Associates, consists of the construction of a 300-bed hospital In Patient Units (IPU) diagnostic, treatment and emergency departments. Included are a new energy center and an industrial substation. Douglas Steel received a contract with Turner Construction to fabricate and erect 2,540 tons of structural steel for the 353,700 square foot diagnostic and treatment center which ties into the Patient Units. The Owner wanted to create a “spa/resort” atmosphere while staying at the hospital. The rustic architectural exterior envelope and two major atriums give the building that resort appearance. ...
