MSU SRF High Bay

As a pre-cursor to the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), Michigan State University needed to build a SRF High Bay building to house superconducting radio frequency technical facilities directly adjacent to the FRIB project in the heart of the MSU campus.

Douglas Steel was contracted by Barton Malow Company to detail, fabricate and erect 370 tons of structural steel for this 30,000SF project. The project’s aggressive schedule did not allow for the traditional design-bid-build process. Barton Malow chose the Douglas Steel Cost Management method of procurement saving weeks off the schedule.
