Cooley Law School

Lansing, Michigan – 100 Tons

Looming over Lansing’s downtown business district is the old 14 story Commerce building. Cooley Law School decided to convert this 14 story building into a distinguished, 10 story administration building. To accomplish this vision, Cooley needed to replace eight of the existing floors with four new floors and extensively reinforce the remainder of the building. Since the estimated costs to accomplish the task exceeded Cooley’s budget, Douglas Steel negotiated a cost management contract with Granger Construction Company which allowed Douglas Steel to apply value engineering and performance efficiencies, saving the owner thousands of dollars.
